NATIONAL TOURNAMENT
TRAVEL ASSISTANCE FOR
TEAMS OUTSIDE OF ILLINOIS,
MICHIGAN, INDIANA, IOWA,
AND WISCONSIN FOR 2013
NAYS is please to be able to work with several of our sponsors to provide a travel assistance fund for the 2013 nationals for teams that come from outside the state of Illinois (where the NAYS national is held). Teams from Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Indiana are also not eligible for this offer.
In order to be eligible to apply for these funds, teams must do the following:
1. Be from a state other than Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, or Indiana.
2. Complete a tournament entry form and send it in with your tournament entry fee.
Entry fee is $600 for 1 team; $550 for 2-3 teams; Call for pricing on 4 or more teams.
3. Upon receipt of your entry fee(s), we will send application forms to you to complete in full and return to NAYS. Upon review of these forms, we will notify you as to the amount of travel assistance your team will receive.
4. You must stay in a Bolingbrook hotel. If you stay in a city other than Bolingbrook, you will not be eligible for travel assistance. Confirmed reservations at a Bolingbrook hotel are also required.
All tournament entry fees for this offer must be in the NAYS office no later than June 7. We will immediately send your application for travel assistance to you by e-mail upon receipt of your entry fee. (These forms must be requested when sending the entry fee. They are not sent automatically.) We then must receive the completed application for travel assistance from you by June 21. Late entries/late applications will NOT be accepted under any circumstance, as we need planning time to be able to allocate these funds and prepare for each team.
All travel assistance fees will be distributed to teams at the start of the national tournament playoffs, so you can pay your hotel bills and other expenses before you leave. We will not send them before the event or give them out the first day so as to avoid teams no-showing during the event.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT
NEW PARTICIPATION POLICY FOR
NAYS FREE SPRING TOURNAMENT
IN ILLINOIS MAY 17-19, 2013
We want to remind you of last year's policy change for our annual free spring tournament package deal---the one where you pay for 3 tournaments and get the fourth one free on the May 17-19 , 2013 weekend. We still offer this "4 for the price of 3 deal"....but the policy was changed slightly.
This year, the event will be at Maine East High School in Park Ridge, IL.
Because of the large number of violations over the last several years where teams would take the free tournament and not show, we are again requiring that you must pay for the free tournament up front ($130 for 2013). If you show up for the event and play in all of your games, you will then receive a refund of this fee or a credit towards a future event. (your choice)
While we know this may be an inconvenience, we would rather do this and be assured of teams showing, instead of having you drive to the games and finding out your first game is a forfeit (or in some cases, even driving the next day and having another forfeit!) It is simply unfair to teams who honor their commitments and do want to play to have to suffer through this because of teams no-showing. We have had as many as 15 teams no show for the free tournaments in the past, while the paid events usually see everyone show, or only an occasional no-show. While we would like to pin it down to just a few teams, we can't---violators have been individual teams as well as big clubs. Plus, we still have to pay referees, gym rent, etc....when teams no show, and we lose admissions/concessions revenue. Rather than drop the free event altogether, we want to continue to offer it to you, so this is the best solution.
We will not make exceptions for anyone---you must pay for the free tournament up front, and will get the refund/credit the week after the event. Simply call or e-mail our office so we know what your preference is, or note it on your entry form at the time of entering the May 17-19 event.
